Kathmandu: Interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki has formally taken leave from office, marking the end of her six-month tenure and paving the way for the newly elected government to assume power following the recent House of Representatives elections.

Focus on Timely Elections
In her address to the nation, Karki stated that her primary objective was to conduct elections on time, which she described as successfully achieved. She termed the peaceful, free and fair elections held on Falgun 21 as the biggest accomplishment of her tenure.

She also expressed appreciation for institutions including the Election Commission Nepal, Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and National Investigation Department for their roles in ensuring a smooth electoral process.

Governance and Anti-Corruption Efforts
Despite the short duration in office, Karki claimed her government made notable progress in tackling corruption and irregularities. She highlighted that several long-hidden corruption cases were brought into the public domain.

Additionally, actions were taken against:
-Contractors failing to fulfill agreements
-Individuals and entities defaulting on electricity payments

These measures, she noted, signaled improvements in governance and accountability.

Post-Protest Recovery and Economic Measures
Karki emphasized that her government laid a strong foundation for implementing agreements reached with protesters following the “Gen-G” movement.

She also pointed to initiatives such as:
-The Integrated Business Revitalization Plan for affected businesses
-Efforts to rebuild damaged infrastructure

Looking Ahead
Congratulating the newly elected lawmakers, Karki expressed confidence that the incoming, youth-led government would prioritize good governance, employment generation, and economic growth.

Concluding her address, she said she looks forward to welcoming the new leadership and remains optimistic about the country’s future.
